Smith Lecture

Christian public figures presenting their perspective on subjects relevant to Australian public life

The Smith Lecture was founded by a group of people concerned to bring Christian thinking to the forefront of public discussion among the leaders of the city of Sydney. It aims to provide an opportunity for a Christian public figure to present his or her perspective on a subject relevant to the life of our nation.

Topics covered in past Smith Lectures include: scientist and mathematician Dr John Lennox asked whether science had 'buried' God, in a lecture entitled God's undertaker; economist Prof Ian Harper asked whether The Global Financial Crisis was a crisis of trust; and historian Prof Edwin Judge explored The future of truth in a lecture discussing the paradox of private faith and public reality.

We hope you will get involved with the Smith Lecture program and look forward to seeing you at a lecture.
